Yes, you. The one who still believes stories can change something, or someone. I’m N’Zuri and I write things. Sometimes it's a poem. Sometimes it’s a screenplay. Sometimes it’s a bedtime story that sneaks in a truth or two while you’re off chasing stars. But always, it’s something that lingers.
My love affair with storytelling didn’t start in Hollywood; it started in Arkansas. I was deep into Business studies at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, set on mastering spreadsheets and strategy. Then came a Journalism class (I know, total plot twist) and a professor who cracked open a world I didn’t even know I belonged to. Suddenly, I wasn’t chasing deadlines and bylines, I was chasing movement. The way stories move. Literally. The magic of motion, the power of the page, the rhythm of a well-placed line... I was hooked.
So, I pivoted.
Again.
